Hello all, I have just collected 6 chickens They were in barns and never saw day light. Amy way I am wondering do I leave food in the coop when I tuck them up for bed at night, I will leave water for them but not sure if I need to leave food. Many thanks Toni

If they've never been outside they may be hesitant to leave the coop for the first few days, so put food and water inside the coop for them at first, but you do not need to leave food and water in there at night as well. Chickens like to fill their crops before they go to roost at night and will be fine like that until the morning.

Thank you for taking to time to reply, I thought the same, but the little girls are running all over the place eating, drinking and scratching, They have also popped into the coop and laid 3 eggs! I am not sure if I should put food in at night, They are eating fine. :O)

Wow, they are doing better than my "barn chickens"! It took me a week to get them to come out of the coop. Give them a good feed before they go to sleep and time to drink some water and they will be fine for the night.
