Good morning! I live in Deer Park, NY and just got my first chickens less than a week ago. I'm so excited about them! My husband and I were toying with the idea of getting them for a little while and then we met someone who has a exterminating contract to remove the "wild" chickens from the racetrack. He doesn't like killing them, so he rehomes them! That made up our minds and we are now the proud owners of 5 "wild" chickens. Love them! Hopefully we'll be getting a few more soon too! They're all mixed breed and being a complete novice, I couldn't even begin to guess the mix of breeds or ages. All I know is that they are still a bit too young to be laying eggs yet. One is much younger than the other 4 and I can't wait until she is big enough to be moved into the coop with the others. If anyone has any suggestions on breed / age / sex - please let me know!
