Hello there!
My name is Miranda and I just got my first few chickens!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
- I am new to chickens! I’ve helped neighbors with them before but never had my own
This is my first time go.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
- I have five in total; three hens and two roosters.
(3) What breeds do you have?
- Since I did get these chickens from a friend, I’m actually not completely sure what they all are. But I have been trying to research that
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
- Well, I think that they’re fun and my husband and I have talked about doing this for a while now.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
- Some of my other hobbies are: working out, going on road trips, going to the beach, fishing, off-roading.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
- I have three step kids and I am married. We have a schnoodle (schnauzer/poodle) named Rudy, a tortoise named “Ricky Bobby”, and now chickens. We enjoy fishing and going on family trips. My husband is retired military, and I’m still active. I also work as an esthetician and cosmetic laser technician.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
- I was actually reading “The Beginner’s Guide to Raising Chickens” by Anne Kuo and she mentioned this website in her book. Attached are pictures of Rudy and my chickens
