Well, with three 3.5 wk old chics, I am definitely hooked! Two buckeyes and one Wyandotte (I think) are fun to watch and are getting so active! I spend time with them every day more than once, and the Wyandotte is proving to be the "flyer" of the bunch. If I go out into the garage to their brooder (large cardboard box) she will jump onto the rim of it, even though it is 3' high! She always wants to be loved on and held. The other two are also great and very curious and a bit less trusting, but both will hop onto my hand when I hang it in there.
Building a coop shall begin next weekend after some yard clearing is done. I have done plenty of research, and have come up with a plan for the coop and attached run. Seems that my idea of making it bigger than necessary is wise, having seen plenty of chicken math stories. I've even considered hitting the mercantile next batch and getting a couple more! I was planning to use TPO membrane roofing rubber for the floor of the coop under the litter in order for an easy hosing out with water, but need to do more research.
Glad to be a part, and to learn from all you pro's! Thanks
