(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My husband and I are new to chickens. We started our flock early June 2025, and we are very excited for this adventure!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
11
(3) What breeds do you have?
Barred rock, rhode island reds, wyandottes, olive egger, legbar, Sicilian buttercup, speckled Sussex, silkie
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They're really funny!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Our two dogs keep us busy, my husband likes working hard and I like sleeping.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have a Pomsky named Lucy and Alaskan Klee Kai named Ricky, as well as a tortoise shell cat named Kiki. I work in healthcare and my husband is a technician. We are newlyweds and just purchased our first home this year.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Facebook and Google. We are hoping to learn as much as we can to be successful chicken parents.
