We have been doing research through this site for some time now, but this is my first post. We got our first chickens this past summer . We ordered 25 from Cackle Hatchery and recieved 26 very healthy chicks. 4 roosters 22 hens . Dominiques and silver laced Wynadottes. So far so good. We ended up putting half of them up for sale on craigslist when they were about 4 months old and were very happy to find a farmer who was searching for Dominiques to add to his flock of rare and hard to find breeds. since that time we have kept in touch and in the spring we will hopefully be getting some Barnevelders from him . So at this time we are at 11 , one rooster, and the rest hens. We love having them around and enjoy the eggs we are getting, so are all our friends and family, no one has to buy eggs anymore.
