(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Neither of us have ever had chickens! We decided it would be a great project to do together and jumped in. I have a lot of animal experience but am completely new to the chicken world. We got our batch of chickens on February 26th at two days old.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We had a minimum order of 15 chickens from the site we got them from and they shipped us 16 in case some didn't make it. They have all remained super healthy and active so we still have the 16.

(3) What breeds do you have?
We got 5 Buff Orpingtons, 6 Brown Leghorns and 5 Easter Eggers.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
As we have googled for answers along the way while preparing for our chicks and dealing with different surprises this site always pops up with lots of answers.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We both were interested in the idea of getting "off the grid" and learning more about living off the land/ providing for ourselves. We both had no idea about how to raise chickens but are enjoying the learning experience. We both enjoy photography so that makes for lots of cute pictures.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Mika also has cats and dogs. Emjay has had reptiles and birds.

Thank you so much for the help you've given us already! I am excited to start posting questions!
