New to the forum and new to chicken wrangling. We're in a housing development on 1/4 acre with approval from the HOA (hate HOAs). We decided to mix it up and we have 3 different breeds, Ameracauna, French Black Copper Maran, and Buff Orpington. We named them MaryAnn, Lovey, and Ginger (you Gilligan's Island fans will know), all purchased as pullets. We purchased an Aivituvin coop and the solar door timer. Mostly a good experience after some service issues. Lovey is the only one laying so far. Glad to be here and try to learn from the group.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

I agree, they will need a lot more room. 5 square feet floor space bird in the coop, 10 square feet ground space per bird in the run. Chickens turn cannibalistic when they feel cramped. Nice breeds you picked however, will make for a colorful chicken yard for sure!

Make yourself at home here and welcome to our community!
