New Chicken parents! Need help finding good sellers near us

Hello Everyone,
Me and my husband are new to having chickens. We bought 4 back in march and around the end of May a guy down the street let his dog loose and it broke through our coop door and killed 3 of my 4 chickens. We have since built a fence and a new coop. My husband bought me a beautiful rooster and hen for my birthday this past Tuesday the 24th. We are wanting more chickens now that we have a bigger coop and have no idea where to look or even where to start. We live in Beauregard Alabama near Opelika Al. We are Roll Tide Fans!!! So if anyone nearby knows where I can look or someone selling them please let me know! I love this site so far. There is so much information on here. I can't wait to make friends with other chicken parents!!

Oh, I am so sorry for the losses to the dog. How sad.

You might start looking in your state thread. Do some chatting with your chicken neighbors and maybe someone nearby has some hens for you...

Hello and Welcome To BYC! Sorry for your losses. TwoCrows gave you some good links to check out for local birds, don't forget to check bulletin boards at the local feed stores etc, and places like Craigslist.

Is it possible to go back to the original sellers and get more? Or did you want different breeds?

If you find people near you, in your state thread,benefits would be you could see before you buy, and wouldn't need to have them shipped.

Very Nice! We started out last Dec. with 1 White Plymouth Rock that adopted us and now our flock has grown to 40. Good Luck and Enjoy! BYC has been a great resource for us! I am sure it will be for you as well!
