New Chicken Raiser

Welcome to BYC! Thank you for joining us!
Thanks for welcoming me. I have 10 baby Black Jersey Giants and 4 baby Black Copper Marans. I was hoping for 1 rooster of each and that the rest were hens, but at 4 1/2 weeks old it's looking like I have 3 Maran roosters and 3 Jersey roosters. At what point should I separate the rooster from each other, I wondering, as they are already charging each other and bumping chests, flapping wings, and stretching their necks. Making me nervous as I don't want them to hurt each other. What do you suggest?

Yes my babies are doing very well, and boy are they growing! My 10 Black Jersey Giants are getting so big that they are about to outgrow the small coop we've started them in. My husband and I are building them a much larger permanent coop and hope to have it done by the end of the week. None too soon! They have pretty well got into a routine that works for both of us. They still have not calmed down and still don't trust my hand is not satan and not going to do some terrible harm to them. LOL But they know when I gently whistle to them they are going to get a treat, and they all come a running. LOL My four little Black Copper Marans are just as calm and tame as they ever were, but they've gotten big enough now that they have stopped standing and staying on my finger. I have never seen a baby chicken do that but all four of these did up until they were 4 1/2 weeks old. They would hop right into my hand and want to stand on my finger up by my face and turn their head from side to side while I talked to them. Amazing! They too think I have to have a treat for them every time I come near to the coop to check on them. LOL We have them in their permanent chicken tractor and they are loving it. They're even flying up to the waist high roosts that we put there for when they grew bigger. They're all going to bed down at sunset in their nests still as they are still small, so they're not staying on the roosts at night, but they are all enjoying exploring the wonders of the grass and jumping on things and finding worms. What breeds do you have? It's nice to have someone to talk chickens too as my sisters and hubby are probably getting sick of hearing about them. They aren't that interested. Thanks for the welcome. Nice talking to ya!
