New Chicken Run with improvements

These are pictures of my new chicken run which 20'x20' with several improvements
this is a picture of some of my chickens.

This is a picture of my coop which I plan on enlarge in the near future today I redid the roost inside which gave the chickens more room.

This is a picture of the coop through the gate that I built myself you can see the reservoir for the new automatic water in the right lower corner.

This view is from the side you can see the waterier and the automatic feeder made out of 4inch PVC I put on the funny angle so the feed would go from one end to the other and it works real good no feed waste.

Picture of watering system I know before winter I am going to have to insulate it so it want freeze.

One of the girls enjoying a drink, I didn't have any trouble with them not using it I just took all the old waterier out and out of site, to start with I just set them outside of the run and they just look at them, so I put them out of site and in a few minutes they where using the nipples. I have notice that the nipples do leak a little which doesn't bother me I just up a couple buckets of sand underneath to prevent mud.

I also littered the run with hay to help prevent mud and dug a drainage ditch across the front of the run to route rain water away.

What's with all the straw in the run? It seems like a bad idea to me.

It is hay. And I feel that it is a better alternative than mud when it rains. Maybe not as good as sand or mulch, but they seem to enjoy it.

I add a coat of red paint to the coop. I also put a new ramp at the chicken door

My chickens just love hay and straw, between the chickens and my bun buns i go through a lot of it!
