We realized last week that we had a rooster instead of the hen we were promised. We took him back to where we bought the birds in the first place and traded him for a Silver-laced Wyandotte hen, approximately 10-12 weeks old. We have no idea how much she weighs.

We've kept her away from the rest of our flock - wanted to make sure she's healthy before exposing the others to her.

She's very quiet in her cage and, whether sitting or standing, is extending her head as she tries to breathe. The kids say that she's got smelly nasal discharge and rattles when she breathes. She's also thrown up a few times and was sneezing. A few days ago, she was pacing in the cage (the others were out in the yard) and she seemed bored to me, but we only have so much yard and want to keep the birds apart for now.

There's no sign of trauma, but we've only had her for about a week or so, so I don't really have a history.

She's been eating the same feed that our other birds are eating. My son did put a little garlic in her water, but we're not sure she likes it. She's not eating or drinking as much as I think she should be. She's nibbling on ficus leaves right now (a favorite with all our birds).

She's on pine bedding with a little bit of straw.

Thanks for any help you can give us!
