just got 5, ten month old hens at a farm today. at home, i noticed they had picked on the one and its hindend is bleeding. do i do anything special or did they just get bored and anxious on the trip? they seem to be fine in the new coop tonight. thanks for any info.

watch her closely! they can do serious damage to her if they keep it up! you might want to separate her until she stops bleeding. sometimes the sight of blood makes it all the worse.

thanks so much and all looked good this morning...she was clean and everyone was calm and quiet. will be watching and will separate her if need. i think the ride home was more cramped than the inside housing they were in. many chickens in there and not many tail feathers on these. do i need anything special for them to get healthier looking? more feathers?

getting the run ready so they will be inside a couple more days yet...

i am feeding laying feed and water and grit. what else do you suggest?

thanks alot and how nice is california????
