I have bought 2 new smaller chickens and one of my old chickens pecks them from time to time and takes off the feather.I put the old hen away for sometime so it stops pecking.Anybody know a faster solution.

Ok as they are establishing and thx for the warm welcomeThey will keep doing it. They are establishing their pecking order. Also![]()
will read nowIt probably isn't an issue that requires a solution.
Chicken society involves a certain amount of pecking. Pecking is the main method how chickens communicate. Older birds naturally are senior to newer and younger birds, and an occasional peck is how they communicate rank.
On the other hand, if the pecking morphs into bullying and injuries, then steps need to be taken to intervene. Here's an article on my method to interrupt the bullying cycle. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/chicken-bully-chicken-victim-a-two-sided-issue.73923/
They share the same coop and the same large big garden idk how toIf any injuries happen like; bleeding or bald spots, separate them.
How old are the smaller onesThey share the same coop and the same large big garden idk how to
Try waiting a couple daysThey are only slightly smaller and the one doing the pecking is the ssme size and age as the dark brown oneView attachment 1419556
