Hi Kiana325!

My husband and I will practically be your neighbors! We are buying a house in Littleton and will close in June. Probably won't get chickens this summer, but next year for sure, after we figure out where to situate our coop in the yard. Great to meet you on here.

That's great! I hope you enjoy Littleton. It's a fantastic area. Where are you moving from?

hi i seen your in groton ma. can you tell me if we need a permit there? if so how many chickens can we have. i was raised in groton well be gowing back in june.my children are asken mom can we raise chickens. any info wold be alote of help by chance do you know what breed is best with kids couse i know they wold be tryin to hold them

Nope don't need a permit and as far as I know there is really no limit, although depending on what kind of property you move into you probably want to take your neighbors into account. We live on 5 wooded acres, so the fact that we have a dozen girls roaming about doesn't really bother anyone. That being said I'm fairly certain you have to declare them some where along the way and then they get inspected yearly by the towns live stock person, which is basically just a quick visual to make sure everyone is reasonably healthy.

As for breeds, there is a ton of information on this site that you can poke through. I'm new to chickens, so far from an expert. Not only that, but I don't have kids, just adults that act like kids. Really most of our girls are friendly, but we put a lot of time into them. Particularly the Brahma, Cochins, Australorp, and Easter Egger are our more outgoing girls.
