Hi!
So today is the day I picked up my new chickens and I’m already doubting my self 🤦‍♀️
I haven’t had chickens for a few years and feel a bit out of touch with it lol. I’ve got two Cochins that have been kept in the same pen and a blue laced Wyandotte kept in a different pen.
I’ve put them inside to settle a bit l, they have a large run inside our barn so plenty of room and the Wyandotte went straight for the Cochins (they’re currently smaller than her, just, as they’re a bit younger).
The two Cochins are sticking together which is nice but I’m a bit worried I shouldn’t have got the Wyandotte and just have got three hens from the same pen... I know they’ve only met each other for five mins and hoping they’ll settle lol. Then tomorrow I’m having my mums hens and a cockerel introduced as they were looked after by my sister and and she’s now moving so they’re coming tomorrow. I decided that the best thing would be to just introduce them all then they all Have the same amount of time to get to know each other?? 🤷‍♀️😫. (I’m being overly optimistic I know!)
Anyway. I’m hoping I’ve done the right thing... possibly.... possibly not....

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Its always best to introduce new birds slowly to a flock rather than quick. And this helps to protect your existing flock from disease and to prevent too much aggression. Adding a rooster can help as they tend to keep the hens from arguing. Just keep a close eye on them for several days to make sure there are no huge battles or blood shed. Good luck with your flock and welcome to ours!
