We are brand new to this so bear with me, we had a baby chick show up all by herself in our barn this spring (none of our neighbors have chickens) and we always wanted to raise them so we got her a friend. They get along really well but the two new ones that we got a while ago won't go into the hen house, they sleep in the pen and drop eggs on the ground. They seem to be getting along with the other two better but will they start going in there to sleep and lay on their own at some point? We tried locking them in there and none of them were really happy about it but we will try it again if you think it will work.

I don't have an answer for you .. but wanted to give you a big Texas sized

Most wom't go in by themselves. When you feed them put it in the hen house with their water, they will learn if they want to eat they will go in the house.

Have you tried putting golf balls or fake eggs in their nest boxes?
