new chickens

My new hens and roosters will not hang out with the older hens and roosters. I cant handle two flocks of chickens, beating up each other and running each other off, its just not fun. Thought about getting rid of all my roosters too.

If they free range they will each go to their own areas. If they are confined in a coop and run you may have to partition it off to prevent squabbles. And yes, reducing the number of roosters tends to help the general climate of the coop.

Welcome to BYC. It always takes time for new birds to integrate and work out the pecking order. Getting rid of the roosters may be a very good idea.

If you don't plan on having "fertile " eggs you don't even need a rooster

I did get rid of my two young roosters. I now have 1 rooster and 10 hens, 3 of which are my young ones. The older hens still run the young ones off, but things are better. I guess it will just take time.
