Hi, all! My name is Sarah Williams. I live in the Treasure Valley with my husband, five of our six children, and two dogs.

I purchased 6 fertilized Amber White eggs from the hatchery for my teacher friend to hatch in her first grade classroom. A year ago I was given 5 hens; 3 Rhode Island Reds and two Amber Whites. I chose Amber Whites this time because they are less finicky about being picked up.

Anyway, three eggs hatched today and the fourth just finished hatching. Chick number four sure doesn’t look like an amber white... this little chicky is almost all black with a little patch of yellow on top of its head and some white on its wings. I’m loving the chicks! I’ll try to upload a pic of this new one.

Hi there! I'm in the Treasure valley too! Amber Whites are awesome! I have a mixed flock and my amber white is the friendliest one in the bunch! She loves jumping in my lap for pets! Not sure what your mystery chick is, but it'll be fun finding out. Maybe it's a barred rock? ? Just wanted to welcome you to BYC!
