New chicks and brooder! Newbie alert!

Lost one last night but something was wrong with her when she arrived. The other look fine. Just pressed up on Heater at night. I reduced the size of the cardboard brooder dramatically and put a cardboard over the cozy coop heater. I can’t get another type of heating plate until next Friday. Seems everyone is sold out!

I have a similar heat plate that does have feet to make it like a hen, but it also has chain hooks on the back to suspend flat it instead. Anything like that on yours?

My husband doesn’t like heat lamps in the house and we figured once we’re done with the brooder, this would be good to have as a backup if there’s a prolonged deep freeze over the winter and we need some extra heat in the coop.
