Ok…I haven’t seen this question any place else. Purchased 10 chicks (1 Leghorn, 5 Delaware, & 4 Golden Lacewing Wyandotte)from tractor supply. They’re 4 weeks now but 3 of them are HUGE…legs, feet, butts…they’re just huge and they’re supposed to be the same (Delaware) that 2 of my others are. They look totally different. Anyway…the other chicks started pecking the feathers of these 3 so I have separated them now….I tried giving them things to keep them
Occupied so they would be bored but that didn’t seem to work so now I have the 3 in a 4’X2’ water tank for a brooder. But they just don’t look right to me….I’m posting pics so anyone can tell me if there may be something wrong with these babies or if they misidentified them.
They also seem to be lazy or slow….they take a few steps and just plop down….they lay by the food and eat laying down. But they walk just fine so there isn’t anything wrong with their feet…they do constantly stretch, wings & legs. Can someone help with this? Maybe tell me they’re a different breed or tell me if there may be something wrong with them?

Honestly, to me. They look like a cornish.

That’s what my husband said….would tractor supply have it that off when 3 of the 5 are Cornish? I wonder? My husband suggested that these be for food rather than eggs because of their size.
Im not to sure. Though i do know tractor supply can have some wonky odds.

my friend bought chicks there, all supposed to be female. All turned out to be male.
obviously its not like its super common, but there are errors made.

Yeah, thats what i think anyway. Cornish cross broilers *typically* dont live very long, because of their size. this isnt 100% true for each one, but its usually the case. They usually lay 160 eggs annually.

i would also be careful not to overfeed, as that can cause problems like leg issues and death.

I just looked up Cornish and the pictures of Cornish chicks are identical to my 3 so I’m convinced that they are. So the feathers should start growing in soon? I’m assuming that’s why they were pecked by the others is because they were slow and mostly laying down and kind of “bare” anyway. Thank you for your response! I feel better that they’re not sickly or something wrong with them.

Of course! Yeah, they tend to not look the prettiest as young, quite bare looking.

feathers should grow in soon! You will notice they have a bit of a bare looking belly for a while, but that should look better soon, to.
