New Chicks Have Arrived!! Yellow is the extra?

I ordered brn leghorns and a cream legbar rooster .My diy Easter eggers should be good layers of pale blue eggs and be predator savvy. Leghorns fly good
That’s so cool! Are they still young or have they started laying yet? I’m interested to hear how it goes! I have two cream Legbar pullets that are a couple weeks from laying and I can’t wait. They’re so gorgeous too.

I kept 2 of the 4 I got last month and they’re a little flighty but they really are so cute. They’re 8 weeks now and still so small.
I had to creep around in slow motion to keep from setting them off when they got older.I'd bust out at laughing at them because they acted more like birds than chickens. The worst part was if one took flight they all did

I placed an order for some legbar pullets but I cancelled it on the 8th. When my Sapphire Gem went broody the following day I gave her 4 white brn leghorns eggs and 4 brown eggs(blk Australorps and Sapphire Gems)She started hatching today lol

Mine were slow to develop the first year. They did a lot of fighting confined so I started free ranging them. They are a little hard to train when you have a lot of them so I had to get rid of most of mine but these come in and go to roost before dark and always lay in the coop. They also let me lock them up in the middle of the day if I have to go anywhere. They're awesome little chickens

I have 1 sapphire gem and she’s such a sweetheart. Are they known for going broody? I don’t have a rooster so it would be a waste if mine did lol. I think it would be so cool to have a hen hatch some eggs though!!

I will only have 1-2 brown leghorns so hopefully they do ok. I’m adding another 45 sqft to my run this weekend so I’ll have about 160 sqft for 9 chickens. Hoping that’s enough for the couple of birds that like to fly around. I do let them out to run the big yard when I’m home at night and sometimes in the morning but we have 2 dogs that would have them for dinner if they got the chance. I’m fearful they’ll fly over the fence and the dogs will get their chance so I don’t let them free range longer than an hour a day.
