We just hatched 14 chicks. Two of the have legs that straight out and the can't stand up. Is tthere any thing we can do? Are they a lost cause? they are both doing well except their legs.

Hi, and

You want them on a surface they can get a grip on, not something slick like newspaper. It's called spraddle or splayed legs. The following link can really help you out! Good luck, and congrats on the hatch!

Do you mean they are kind of sitting? or are their legs spreading apart? If they are just in the sitting position with their legs in front, give them time and they will gain the use of them. Make sure you dont have the chicks on anything slick or slippery (like newspaper) that they cannot get their footing or there will be problems. (search spraddle leg) Try paper towels or something they can get a better footing on.

Welcome to BYC! and good luck with your new babies!
