New chicks on the way, Beautiful Black Bantams

So sorry about your loss.

For future reference, your chicks couldn't have been feather-sexed. Feather sexing only works when you use a genetically fast-feathering roo over a slow-feathering hen and is usually only seen in production breeds like White Leghorns. It's a myth that it can be used for all chicks.

Alrighty we've move the babes to the farm brooder coop
they'll stay there for about 30 days or until they are large enough to put into the other coop side.

They are terrible mad at me right now I think but they'll get over it just like all children do...LOL

We sold two of the chicks just to reduce our numbers in our heat.
We have kept silkie the silvery splashy looking chick, & Odette the black chickie with the black beak.
Since we sold the other two these two are much quieter in the pen & less skiddish...hmmm...go figure.

Updated pics of the two we kept.
Silkie the silver(so far white feathering with a gray tone close to the body)
Odette the dark(who is now sprouting some brownish feathering on her breast & underside)

from the same mama and papas already posted

We've already decided we're going to keep the most interesting looking 2, & selling the rest

We couldn't find the little black hen this morning, We'll be looking for her again at lunchtime
We put the eggs in the bator, and then the turner stopped working so we'll be close to this hatching bunch.
We'll be hand turning on the holders 3X a day

Wish us good luck it's our/my first even time doing this...

Any and all tips are welcomed, I'd like this to be successful even with the issues already with the incubator not working correctly.

Just thought I'd post a new photo of the two babies we kept from the 4 they are both Hens as predicted.

and just for the record also, out of the other two, only the one other white one was a rooster As predicted

I'll have a new batch hatching on Friday we can guess again whether it's supposed to be true or a myth:D Got to be at least 7 out of 12 (Our first hatch)

Here are Silkie those odd baby feathers look like lavender yay and Odette is a very friendly gal.

(We're on the lookout for another that looked like Silkie when it's born, I think we're gonna keep at least one more...All from the new hatch
are supposedly already sold but I know how folks change their minds.

Silkie and Odette
7 weeks old + 2 days

Silkie was also the little gal who had the pecking incident, all can see she's healed up just fine, and her time back at the house
and a little extra TLC turned her into quite a friendly bird, not anywhere near as jump as she was before, and doesn't try to fly away when being handled.
two great little birds.

We separated our eggs out By, most development, while candling on day 14,
We had 4 that we're very very developed on day 7, there are 3 that we're moving along but they'll hatch is a next bunch
and the last 5 it's anyone's ball game, since it took 12 days for her to lay out. We're gonna wait out till all the first 7 say
hello, then candle the final 5 in hose of a giving them a last chance.
Crossing fingers for 1 or 2 more Lavanders
