New Chicks Plus My Mysteries

The new babies are here!! We picked them up first thing this morning. Everyone looks good so far.

I got 4 Blue/BBS Orpingtons and 2 mysteries. One is supposed to be a pullet and one a cockerel. No one is banded, so I don't know which Orpington is my male yet, but that doesn't really matter.

I wanted to share pictures. Anybody know what my mysteries might be? I plan to try the Meyer chick identification page, but I haven't made it there yet. My mysteries are the first 5 pictures (2 of one bird, 3 of the other), and the Orpingtons are the rest. The group picture includes 6 dark brahmas that came in my order, but they're going to my neighbor later today.

Thank you! I thought maybe RIR too, which if it is the free cockerel, is what I was expecting it to be. But you know I'm not good at this game, lol.

I tend to forget that there are other chicks that start out with a ginger/reddish down, lol.

I figure someone here will know way more than I do. If not now, as it grows. I'm just glad they all arrived alive and seemingly healthy. I've been a nervous wreck about shipped chicks!

I haven't had chicks shipped yet, only hatching eggs. The closest I've come is picking up chicks from a friend 2.5 hours away.

It wasn't so much hatchery issues I was worried about, but USPS mishandling them. But the box was in perfect condition.

Fair warning, they can be problematic. I ended up with 10 cockerels in a SR batch of 16 chicks. By 8-10 weeks they were crowing and trying to breed my (then) 5 month old pullets. I was not sorry to see them go.
