well a friend of mine's hen abandoned her chicks and I'm getting them tomorrow. well the feed store is closed on Sunday so I was wondering if I could just feed them layer crumbles, until Monday ?

That will be fine. Just make sure the pieces aren't too big. Smash it with a hammer or something if you need too.
