Today I brought home 3 new chicks. An Ameracauna, a White Orpington, and a Cuckoo Maran. They will be 3 weeks on Monday. It's 83.7 degrees in the room. Do I still need to provide additional heat? I have a heating pad, but I didn't put it in yet. Right now they're sleeping side by side.

They've actually pretty much slept all day and haven't eaten much. Do I need to do anything to get them eating? The breeder I got them from said I didn't have to do anything and that they would find their way to food and water, but I'm concerned because they're mostly sleeping. They get up occasionally to walk around the brooder and peck at the bedding (I sprinkled some herbs (Better Brooder Blend by Treats for Chickens) and then go right back to sleep.

I would add the heat source just in case they should move away from it if they get to hot. They will find the food and water but i always dip their beak in the water at first just to be safe. For the first few days they usually sleep a lot of the time.

Ok, thanks for your response. I put the heating pad in the brooder. Once they wake up I'll dip their beaks in the water. For now I will just let them sleep.
