I finally came across pure Araucana chicks! (Australian standard, so similar to Ameraucanas?) so of course I HAD to get a few of them.. I also happened to get a bonus Belgian D'uccle which is so darn cute but tiny!!! Will it be ok with the others in the brooder? part of me wants to go back and get some more of it's own kind to put in another brooder but I'm not sure if the other half would be down with that idea

Australia uses the British standards for Araucana so quite different to the American Araucana standard. Some similarities to Ameraucana but some differences too. They are all unique breeds. Enjoy them and the colored eggs.

There are no guarantees when it comes to behaviors. It is quite possible that D'uccle will get along with the others if it is raised with them. It may even be pretty high in the pecking order. that's determined a lot by personality more than pure size. Whether you get more is up to you. But if you are going to try to merge them into one flock later, I'd try really hard to raise them together. I'd consider that less risky than a later integration.

I'm planning to eventually have the D'uccle join my bantam coop anyway (silkies and oegb hens) so seperating them now wouldn't be an issue in the long run but having one brooder and grow out pen would make things a bit easier. I guess also having another one or more would be better for introductions instead of just one and I could just keep them all together while they grow and just keep an eye on them..
Hmm is this that chicken math I keep hearing about :lau
