Hi..I am new at this and am just have my serama chicks starting to hatch. I have week old chicks in with chicks that hatched yesterday....is that ok, They seem to all be doing well and cuddle together to sleep. SHould I put a their mom in with them? They are eating and drinking just fine.

There are about 8 more eggs to hatch...can they all just be together?

Also...how can i tell what sex they are??? I want to start selling them but have no idea what is what.

Thanks!!

Pam, Welcome to BYC. It sounds like you want all the chicks together to simpify things. If that's the case and everyone is doing fine you are ok.

I personally would never take the peeps away from a good broody hen, they learn faster and mom deserves to keep her babys after sitting for 21 days. That's just my opinion and a good mom and her peeps is priceless to watch. Good Luck>

hi Bigzio...thanks for writing...I know i felt bad taking them from her but the serama chick is tiny and would fit thru the chicken wire...about the size of a field mouse...so that is why i have them in the house....any ideas on what I should do? pam
