First time mom has 6 chicks so far. 5 eggs left. When I came back from town, I found that the mom took off with 4 chicks while 2 stayed behind chirping loudly. I guess too scared to jump to the ground. I kept company with the two and fed them the new bought starter food and had a small dish of water. Cute when they drink water. 1 egg was tossed out of the box by the mom and another cracked open with a partial.( I guess they know which ones are bad?) Wondered if the mom and the 4 chicks would come back or not. Late afteroon they did come back and I helped the 4 chicks up into the box. No problems since they were used to me.

Have another hen up hight in the carport with 11 big eggs. I think they might have a chance of being Silkie mix. We will see in a couple weeks.

No ramps. The hen with the nest high up will be moved to the second level of the shelf. I have a kind of step ladder so that the chicks can go on each step and then jump to the top when they get a little bigger.

The rooster silkie is pretty big and he jumps up on to the table I have on the side of the carport. He is finally getting comfortable eating from my hand. Still skittish on being touched though. It might take awhile.
