Hey yall! I just got some new baby’s. 2 buff Orpington 1 blue australorp and 1 chocolate Orpington. My past flock sadly had to go to a different owner. But I have moved and now have 4 new baby’s. I’m worried the chocolate Orpington is a cockerel. (I’ll attach an image below) I’m worried because he is very large and has an upright posture. Not as developed tail. And thick legs. If anyone could help that would be very appreciated.

Cute! 😍

Did you purchase the chicks as sexed females? I wouldn't worry too much about having a cockerel. I had a large chick with thick legs that loved standing upright. All girl! It's fun to play the guessing game, but yours are still too young to make any definitive calls.

It is still too early to be sure. I strongly suggest you do nothing impulsive for a while longer. With that posture and heavy legs it could easily be a male. Chocolate Orpington are vent sexed and usually come with a 90% guarantee but the jury is still out on that one.

I agree. I had a buff orp that I swore would be a cockeral, and she isn't.
