I have 4 chickens 2 brown one speakled and one grey they are just over a year old on Monday I got 4 new 12 week old chicken and I was very surprised when I put them in the old chickens attacked them and still are and it is mainly 1 chicken she has always been friendly she keeps peaking the new chickens and ripping out feathers so the new chickens go and hide any advise p.s not getting rid of the old chicken xx

Hello! Welcome to BYC! You might want to keep the younger chicks separate until they are fully grown. You can also put up a barrier of something like chicken wire where they can all see each other, but not attack. Then they can get used to seeing the new ones through the barrier but not be able to attack. And when you add new chickens, they do have to re-establish the pecking order so there will always be some squabbling. Good luck!

! Pleased to have you aboard! The advice of CedarAcres was spot on! Good luck to you!

Welcome! I would suggest putting the new chicks in a dog crate inside the pen. This is called the 'look but no touch' phase. This way, the older chickens can get used to the new chicks, but they won't peck them. When you want to put the newer chicks in with the others, there will still be some pecking, but not near as much, because they are used to each other. Here is a little guide on how to add new chicks to the flock: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/adding-to-your-flock

Good luck!
