new chicks

Thank you all for the welcome. I did take her ( Willa) and her chicks off the shelf. She is such a good mom.
She had laid these eggs up on this shelf and I did not take them down just to see if she would sit on them. The other chickens had been picking on her so I thought she was just trying to get away from them. I thought she was acting sick and was going to take the eggs out from under her. What a surprise.
Our new baby chick just hatched this morning at exactly 21 days of sitting. We had had two, but one egg was broken and the immature embryo didn't make it, so we have one live chick that mama is protecting vigorously. (She's sitting on its head. Is that a problem?)
My question: What kind of new accommodations did you make for your new mama and chicks? Is it on the coop floor? Is it enclosed? Details, please! We've never done this before.

What I did was fence her and the chick off in the coop as the other chickens continue to be mean to her. I made a box so they go into it at night. I have open the fence to let them get to know the other chickens, however they don't seem to attack the babies they continue to chase the hen. They seem to be fine and are growing.

Now I have another hen setting on about ten eggs Oh boy I asked the question prior what do you get when you cross mix your chickens. Well it looks like little eagles. Ha Ha
