Hello fellow chicken lovers! I am a recently new chicken mom from Ontario Canada. This has been my go to website for all things chicken. Thank you for that ! I really thought they all had tumors for a minutes there, haha. I'm learning everyday!
I recently moved to a house in the county that already had a beautiful heated coop, so here I am with 20 beautiful babies
well... almost babies. I reserved 8 and asked for mostly Easter Eggers, I ended up with 9 total, 5 EEs and the rest were RIR or a barred rock/black sexlink mix. Then I decided I needed more, and I wanted to raise them all together. So I added 5 silkies. And THEN I looked at the size of my coop and decided I REALLY wanted 2 Ameraucanas so I found a local chicken guy and he had three, so I sent my husband and naturally he came home with 6 (3 pure Ameraucanas and 3 legbar Ameraucanas) ( much older than my previous 14 dudes). So here we are. I monitored them separately for a bit and then put them all together. They are all happy and healthy and have a good sized brooder( it's about 8' x 4' ). No one is getting picked on. Surprisingly the only aggressive one so far is one of the larger silkies ( tiny in comparison to the 6 older ones). He chases the bigger birds around. The ameraucanas are scared of everything so I think that helped? Anyways here are some photos!
