Hello. I will be getting 10 chics as a newbie chicken mom. Is it ok to get say 6 this week and the other 4 a week later? Tractor supply seems to get different breeds each week. I would like a variety and thought of this idea... is that ok or not ideal?

I have chicks one week apart right now. Just watch and see how they act, if the new ones act like they are getting trampled because they are spending more time resting than playing, separate them. They should be fine, just keep an eye out! Chicks are especially tired days 1-3 of life, after that they start bouncing around the brooder.

Oooo so that’s what happened at Tractor Supply. We went last night just to look ☺️ And one for baby was dead and they kept walking over him. A duck in another pen was headed in that direction too- he was laying there not doing well. Poor babies.
thanks so much- great info. I really appreciate it.
