Welcome to BYC! You can train your chickens to lay in the nest box by keeping them confined to the coop/run for a week or so and placing some golf balls in the nesting area.....good luck to you.

your hen is trying to save some time ......
You have a coop for her to sleep in if so and you might
want to keep her locked up in there with a comfortable
nesting box with some straw ..........
