Welcome to BYC. Good luck in maintaining and protecting your flock. If the fox becomes a problem you might consider electric fencing around your pen.

The chicks aren't outside yet, only for short visits when it's warm. We used 1/4" hardware wire and secured with about 1000 lath screws and then attached double layers to the 2X 4's coop is attached to and to the run base, We did the trench with wire going down. We'' keep our eyes out for any attempts of infiltration. If we need to do more, We'll try something. We have an aged cat and don't really want to zap her.
