So I started off with this, and old rundown aviary:
and we picked up a free coop:
I have all the steps in between and I will post the rest up later! So here is the finished product! Paint, dedication and a lot of vision helped the coop and new structure come together!
I currently have 8 chickens. One original chick, then I added four more, then when they were grown, I added the last three.
Here is Jazzy, the original Australorp chicken, she did have a slight run in with harley, my min pin, who since loves the chickens.
Harley and Jazzy "making up"
Jasmine as an adult, her feathers all grew back beautifully!
I figured Jazzy wanted some company, so I picked up Poppy, lucy, maggie and Bahama Mama:
POPPY: SILVERLACED WYNDOTTE
Adult:
LUCY:GOLD SEX LINK
Adult:
MAGGIE:AMERICAUNA
Adult:
BAHAMA MAMA: LIGHT BRAHMA
Adult:
Jazzy was leader from the start!
Given time to all grow up, they stayed in my kitchen until they were big enough last summer to go into the coop. Shortly after we built the brand new coop and was able to introduce 3 more chickens to the flock.
Meet B.B. my cochin/australorp mix hen, shes the oldest at about 3 or 4 years old, but she brings some experience to my youngens:
And last but not least the most recent addition of Thelma and Louise! I believe they are some type of E.E and lay beautiful green eggs!
THELMA:
LOUISE:
See the green egg?
They share the new space very well, and with 8 chickens my coop is fully capacitated!
Even Riley takes the time to stand watch, no cats, racoons or possums in this yard!
Random pics of the girls in their new coop enviroment!
