New coop and run... DONE

Thanks all for the kind words. I know its a shanty and not a coop but we did it with the minimum materials/cost that we could for now. We are pumping most of our money into remodeling the house right now.

In the swamp. Im building this in CT. The house in FL has mango snapper and sheepshead that beg at the seawall for pets/eating critters.
The rear has about 90in W - 4in H across the back for vent. The front has ten 4in holes across the front 6 on the left and 4 on the right where the ladder roost will be. We also plan to put in 2 proper windows when time and money permits. One to replace the lexan and a rectangle basement type window above the pop door.

Shelly ..... LOL its way too true!

Davd/Pop I didnt think id need the treds since the ramp is about 6 1/2ft long and only up 2ft. I will add treds or safty tape ( Its going to be what ever I have at hand. Laura put the axe to my budget and I still need to get the corrugated panels for the runs room today. I assumed one the chickens got used to the coop they would just jump anyway. Didnt have a ramp for the camper coop and they used to just jump/flap

Pop .... I cant believe you never head anyone call them feathered pigs lol. Its amazing this country doesnt have a feral chicken problem with as tough and voracious chickens are!!!!! Ur right they will eat anything. One of my fathers friends shot a .300mag with a scope that didnt have anywhere near enough eye relief. After the scope carved his eyebrow off ..... a chicken ran over and ate it as soo as it hit the ground!!!

I hope I didnt miss anyone. I probably did tho

The hens are all huddled in the far front corner on the poop board. (Maybe because they were floor raised birds?) Im thinking I over did it on the roost and they cant get on it. Tomorrow I will try and address that. We picked up 6 gold sexlinks today and they are as sweet as can be 17 weeks old and 2 of them were checking out the nest boxes and mock nesting in them already. My honey has already named 2 of them. The biggest girl with a real blonde mane around her neck is Lucy and the real dark dark red vocal hen that appears to be the dominant is Big Red AKA fuk fuk because she wount stop saying it .... I think shes a trouble maker

( we arent too creative with animal names. We have a cat named Meow lol.

All in all they seem pretty happy and spent the day in the run pecking around and investigating. Then we put them in the coop early this afternoon hoping they would come out on their own. They decided to play chicken for the rest of the day and just watch out everything out of the pop door.
