My coop-in-progress is 8 x 8, all covered. It's warm climate so am not making a shut-in coop and run, just making the entire space predator proof (as possible). Half the coop has an existing concrete floor which I am planning DLM. The other half is dirt, which I was planning on leaving dirt, as I know how much chickens love dirt and dust baths. But now am thinking, maybe the entire thing should be DLM. Thoughts? .

You can put litter over concrete, dirt, or most any other floor. I wouldn't go to the trouble to remove the concrete, myself. It may come in handy at some point. For one thing, it makes a good floor for a pen to break a broody.

Sorry, wasn't clear. I'm not removing the concrete, just trying to decide whether to extend the DLM onto the dirt part of the coop. I understand that technically it's not DLM if it's on concrete but apparently it is working for people.

I am assuming DLM stands for Deep Litter Method. Some of us are Acronymically challenged. Deep litter works on concrete too. It just doesnt compost as completely. I do Deep litter but I live in a very very dry climate. It doesnt compost (turn into soil) but it does keep the coop dry and odor free.
