New Coop being Built at MoonShadows Farm

Well, as fate would have it, the red metal roofing was not to be. It seems our neighbor had it stored behind his garage. It must have blown over, and someone ran over it! It is only good for the scrap heap, now.

So we went to Plan B. We bought asphalt shingles at Lowes, and finally have a permanent roof that we finished last night.

I also cut holes covered from the inside with hardware cloth in both gables for ventilation. I also plan to cut vents into the sofit boards. This will create an updraft above the chickens' heads for ventilation.

We finally feel like we are coming down the stretch. We have to finish the run, build the nesting box and paint...and, we'll be finished....for now!!!!!

Bummer!! Would have looked great with the raw lumber...oh,well......the lumber will fade to gray and match the roof.

Well, we are finally finished...and it only took 5 months!...give or take. Here is the last installment of pictures.

Just in time! The two small ones are our first eggs...next to a "regular" size egg.

The finished product...ground level.
