New coop finished! Pics included!

Wow! I love it. I'm putting it in my "Idea's for Coop" file

Very nice looking coop! But as others have posted, What is the square footage? that looks pretty small for 5 or 6 hens. And what really bothers me as is posted I don't see any ventilation in the coop at all. They are going to need to get fresh air and an airflow in there.
The doors should probably have more secure latches to keep predetors out.
Not trying to nikpik, just save you the disappointment of losing any girls.

i love it, i say 4 to 5 small birds, 3 to 4 big birds, really nice needs a little ventilation, probably you should get some hardware cloth, and cut out a hole on both sides of the top, right under the a-frame part of the roof, and nail the hardware cloth over the holes, just make it secure, and latches for the door and nest box would save you some heart-ache but really you did very good job, my coops are very tacky, but the chickens call it home

I noticed that most houses are 4x4 and have six hens. Ours is 44 inches by 30 inches and we'll probably only have 5 hens. Thanks for the vent suggestion, there is a large gap where the A frame comes together and the chickens "in and out" door will be facing the ocean so the breeze will be a constant nusiance:) I don't plan on shutting the hens up at night. Though after some reading today I have noted that a majority of BYC folks do; that is something to think about. My husband I'm sure has already considered and thought through all of these things. I'm just riding his coattails so my reply is not as informative as his will be. Thanks for all the feedback and keep it coming!

Very cute - love the color. I agree about ventilation and latches. Here's what we did for ours if you want ideas (with ventilation I mean... I honestly think ours could use more especially when the weather is nicer) ... you can maybe make a few windows and drill some holes and cover them with hardware cloth on the inside. On top of the egg door by where you have your hinges I recommend adding a piece of wood above it - I figured if it rained it would leak into the nest boxes, so the wood we added (and sealed with caulk) blocks the rain so it doesn't drain inside the coop. When creating your ventilation, consider sideways rain.

Our coop is 4x3 (not including nest boxes). We had 6 babies which was fine initially. 1 was rehomed (roo). 5 are still in there at 5 months and they are happy, but they just sleep in it and are outside all day in the run (we keep it next to a larger pen and keep the doors open so they can roam the yard all day). We're building another coop that is bigger to move them into to give them more room though, and we'll probably just keep 3 girls in this one. I do think the size of yours is a bit too small for 6.

"CannonChicks" and "facing the ocean" -- are you in Cannon Beach? If you are, I'm jealous!!!

Nice job!!! You even put a real roof on. I don't think you'll be disappointed, it will keep them nice and dry.
