We repurposed windows from an old Dutchman travel trailer that we stripped down to a flatbed trailer. Utilized space within the fenced chicken run area, and designed this chicken condominium. 6 nice laying boxes, a large roost that we hope will hold up to 20 hens, and a bit of room when they are not outside running around. We shovel the snow in winter, so our chickens can go out even in cold weather to get a little fresh air and scratch a bit. Coop is well off the ground on concrete piers so that rodents or other undesirables can’t settle in. Floor and ceiling are 16” o/c and walls are 24” o/c. Used T1-11 for exterior siding and some cheap white-one-side particle board for interior walls so as to reflect as much natural light as possible. Floor is double layer of thin plywood and then 3/4 OSB as the thin stuff didn’t seem too strong. Under the roost is a thin sheet of plywood - leftover - that can be slid in and out for easy cleaning. Roof is metal as is the top of exterior access laying box. There is a people door so we can walk in, spread pine shavings, chopped straw, or clean under roost area.
