Pictures of my new coop. It is taking much longer than I thought. I kept reading everyone else saying how long their coops took to build and was all like "geez, that is taking forever...mine is going to be done in a weekend". NOT. ;-) It is 6'X6', 6' high inside (I'm tall). It will have 2 large doors in back, 2 slider windows, and 4 nest boxes in front. The fencing behind is what will keep the dogs out, but it will also be lined with 1/4" hardware cloth to keep the birds in. Let me just say - holy crap were the materials expensive!!

Progress so far:

It is coming along, slowly but surely. I think the framing took the longest. All that cutting and hammering!

Current progress:

Nesting boxes are finished except for a bit of trim work, shakes are done on both sides of the coop and the interior is painted with a scrub-able outdoor paint. Yes, my little helper got paint on himself in multiple places.

Roof goes on this week! I can't wait to get the chicks out of my bathtub. Then I just have to paint the exterior to match the house. :)

This looks really good. Did you make it "from scratch" (no pun intended) or did you have plans for it?We are just getting into the chicken biz and I am looking for a coop to build about this size or maybe a bit larger...12-24 chickens. Thanks! Great job so far!
