Currently installing nesting boxes and roosts.....but I am so new to this I am wondering what "seasoned" chicken owners can not live without or wish they had in their coops!!!! I currently have 4 Cayuga ducklings and 3 chicks :)

Lots of roost space, more than one kind of nest box, easy to clean floor and lots of passive ventilation.

What are the various types of nest boxes? And what is the best floor? So many options! I live in south Louisiana where it is hot and humid! I'm currently building a hen house with an attached run. Right now the plan is to put linoleum down with pine shavings but I'm wondering if I should try to make a pull out bottom under hardware cloth? My coop is 4 x 6.

I have nest boxes hung on the wall but I also have a basket that sits on the floor in the corner. You could also use 5 gallon buckets, milk crates or a cardboard box. I think the linoleum with shavings will be fine. Just remember: lots and lots of ventilation.
