My neighbor gave me his old coop. It seems to be infested with tiny black ants. They are EVERYWHERE! I am also finding lots of eggs everywhere. I cleaned it out and sprayed everything down with a water/bleach solution. I also replaced some rotted boards. The ants are still all over. They seem to be coming out of the wood. The ones I sprayed died, but when I went back later in the evening there were still ants everywhere. What can I use to kill the ants that will be safe for my chickens?

Avoid poisons in your coop if you can. You are right, the ants are in the wood. Two things, make sure it's dry. Get it up off the ground and make sure that every inch of the coop can thoroughly dry out. Get out all of the debris and hay etc. Then use Diatomaceous Earth (food grade) on the surfaces to kill the ants.

Give them a day or two to die off and you can put litter back in the coop.
