new coop needed and now Idea where to start! Need to pick brains!

that sounds great! We did the final walkthrough for the house today and should be closing by next friday. So very exciting.

I can't wait to post pictures of everything and measuring it, since I found your rule of thumb for square foot per chicken super helpful; we want to measure the stall and see how many chickens would fit and maybe make it bigger.

i have a really hard time explaining things by writing so I'll take pictures soon and we'll go from there.

PS: I have this idea in my head that once the run is fenced in, I'd like to put some white pickets around the whole thing (just for show), to make it look like a white picket fence... I think that would just be adorable

I love the white picket fence idea - sounds super cute and there is nothing wrong with jazzing up the outside. If you wanted to make it for more than just show, you could always put some flower or veggie beds around the outisde of the run and then use the white pickets to help keep the chickens out. You could even grow chicken veggies in there so if they did get into the beds, it would be okay. Definitely share pics when you get them. And congrats on getting the house/farm - that is super exciting. I actually have an offer in on a house with 2 acres (about what I can handle on my own for now) and am just waiting on the bank to accept or decline the offer - it seems like it takes forever!

on the taking forever part, I hear you on that!

We actually planted basil, parsley, sage and other things around the run that we have now, but they did not last very long... but I do like the idea of planting something around.

today is the big day. MOVING DAY! so we'll be out of Internet for a couple of days, but hopefully once the Internet is back up, I'll have some pictures for you all of the stable now and then the planning can begin.

this is all so exciting and I'm already looking forward to plant my butt on the couch tonight when we're done!

It's going to be a looooong day!
