New Coop, New Chickens, New Hobby? - Paso Robles, CA

Greetings all,

I just spent the last few days building a chicken coop with a run and got it all set up and added 4 chickens today. I am excited to start this little endeavor, but I still have tons of questions. My little 2-year old daughter loves the chickens and loves to hang out inside the run with them.

I am located in Paso Robles (Half way between San Francisco and Los Angeles). I look forward to learning from all of you and I hope that I can share some tips as well.

Welcome to the group! It's a wonderful, friendly and experienced group... I hope you have browsed through some of the topics and instructional pages... so many answers there!

Chickens are so fun! I had no idea... this is my second year, and I'm doubling my flock size...easier to care for... it's called "chicken math", they say.

Thanks Cathy, yes, I have read through the forums and have found many answers to my questions. This will be fun. I will stick with 4 chickens for now, but I'm sure it won't be long and chicken math will take me another direction.

I will post photos of my coops and hens soon.
