I have read some say they have painted the inside of their coop to deter mites; is this proven or a myth? We have had mite problems every year and spend many hours cleaning with Permethrin, etc. and are able to get rid of them. We have a new coop almost complete and if there are ideas on how to prevent mites I'm all ears.

I will be watching this thread to hear what preventive measures others apply. My opinion on the paint is,,,
Paint is good to preserve the wood. A clean coop interior :thumbsup
Paint may seal off many of the small/tiny places where mites may hide.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,:highfive:

I can see where some cracks would be filled in or over, but I don't see painting as something that's going to eliminate mites. Too many nooks and crannies that paint isn't going to cover.
But painted does look nice.
