Ok so..I hate this coop! I did have to get it up quickly, and other people helped put the frame and tin up. and I dont mean to sound ungrateful but nothing is level, I cant even put a screen door on it. I knew how I wanted it, and its like they just threw it up haphazardly not caring because it wasn't theirs. I know its not going to be perfect, but dang. yes I love the space and room it has for my girls, but Im ready to take the tin down, level it again, and put up osb board, with tin over that.or whatever...maybe even pallet boards. But I would have to do this with the chickens still there, but in the run, then still have a safe place in the coop at night., in addition to all the other issues, in my opinion it is not as safe as it could be. There are gaps, which i have put a band aid on. Everyone kept saying, its not going to be perfect, and the chickens will never know, and its just for chickens, dont worry about it...
There is only a square frame, no support beams in the middle, the roof leaks, which i have had to fix somewhat. I'm afraid that a good strong wind is going to blow the thing over!
sorry for the rant, but I've had it with all these people doing shabby work, and being pushy about all of it...I have serious OCD and this junk is wearing me smooth!
Anyone have an idea as to how i can fix this... I'm just so frustrated!
My husband is the same way. No one can help him cause it drives him crazy that they don't do it just the way he wants it. We have friends help put up a run for the chickens and he seriously took it all down and redid it after they left. Luckily they know him, so they didn't get offended.
Anyway, if the run is safe, you can put a small shelter in there while you fix up the main coop how you want. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. Just 3-sided with a cover. I'm not sure how many chickens you have, but I just use a wooden box on it's side for my grow out pen. We nailed a few branches on top for roosting. But since it's temporary, they'll be fine for a bit.
I may just have to do that! Of course everyone is going to get offended or whine or pick on me, but at this point, I don't care one bit what they think! Lol.
